BaBar Level-1 Drift Chamber Trigger Upgrade
submitted to the Xth VCI 2004 30 November 2003 This BaBar L1 DCT upgrade is essential for improving L1 trigger background rejection in preparation for the expected increase in PEP-II luminosity. A large fraction of the current L1 trigger background come from interactions of beam particles with beam line components at ∼ ±20 cm from the interaction point (IP), along the beam direction (z axis). T...
متن کاملThe BaBar Drift Chamber
The central drift chamber for the BaBar detector at the PEP-II Bfactory at SLAC is a cylindrical chamber with a length of 280 cm and outer radius of 81 cm. It consists of 40 layers of small hexagonal cells arranged in 10 axial and stereo super-layers. In order to minimize multiple scattering, light materials are used for the mechanical structure, and the gas mixture is Helium based. The pulse-h...
متن کاملThe BaBar drift chamber project
The BaBar Drift Chamber is now under construction. We review its design, the progress in the construction of the components, the plan for assembly and stringing and we present test results obtained with a prototype exposed at SLAC to cosmic rays. We also report on projected dE/dx performance from beam tests done with a chamber with a different cell design. ( 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B...
متن کاملBaBar drift chamber aging study
In order to obtain a reliable estimate of the lifetime of the BaBar drift chamber, a dedicated aging test chamber has been constructed. The working gas mixture is Helium/Isobutane (80/20). After accumulating up to 0.11C/cm charge dose the anode wire showed no appreciable signs of aging, but the field wires showed a small Malter effect. At 0.2C/cm the gas gain dropped B6–9% and the Malter effect...
